We bought this umbrella after acknowledging the personal-sized totes umbrellas in our cars were too small for heavy storms, or too cumbersome to carry two at a time.
The Stormbeater lived up to its name yesterday, having little trouble during a windy storm. I was impressed that the vents actually stopped the umbrella from wanting to take off from my hand; the handle helped, too, with its ergonomic, but secure, design. My only critique is that the handle may need to be a little bigger to accommodate two-handed holding.
As for size: This thing is huge. I was surprised at how much room my wife and I had under it, and that made walking in the storm an easy task. No more fumbling to stay together, or one of us sacrificing so the other can be dry.
Why I purchased: Style, Value, Reliability, Function
Yes, I recommend this product.

Broke during the first use
Posted May 7, 2014
My experience was the complete opposite of Poet's. I received it as a Christmas present this year and this morning was the first time using it. The umbrella kept wanting to fly out of my hand and the vents did nothing. It flipped inside out 3 times on a 15 minute walk from the parking garage to the office. On the third inversion, one of the metal supports completely snapped.
Well Detroit has not destroyed 4 umbrellas and still can't find one that stands up to the wind down here. I can't imagine what people in Chicago do!
